The Diversity Development Institute enhances university-wide diversity and inclusion efforts that contribute to the core mission of Virginia Tech.

Created at the recommendation of the Provost’s Task Force on Race and the Institution, the Diversity Development Institute provides a structured curriculum through which any employee at Virginia Tech can extend their diversity competencies and thereby positively influence their working and learning environments.

Through DDI, we aspire to:

  • Engage our faculty, staff, and administrators in campus-wide diversity and inclusion conversations;
  • Develop our individual aptitude and knowledge to cultivate an environment of mutual respect and appreciation;
  • Provide professional development opportunities to appreciate differing perspectives;
  • Shift the institutional culture to further embrace our differences and similarities and foster a more inclusive campus community.

The Diversity Development Institute is open to every employee at Virginia Tech.
Participation is free, however pre-registration in courses is required.
